We were of the opinion that in order to make a valve suitable for our purposes it was only necessary to double the anode diameter and perhaps also give a central support to the filament. In the present instance it would appear that a valve of the nature of just a plate and filament enclosed in the same bulb with the plate at some considerable distance from the filament, would do all we require. The essential thing is the reversed pressure insulation -- the very high impedance that would so result would probably be not too high for our purpose. EFC. {E.
