X405G. Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}2/MJ. Jan 17th.1930. The Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Paul. We have just received a complaint from France about the Silent Tread tyre in relation to skidding. The roads over there are largely surfaced with "Bitumen". On this stuff I have frequently been able to spin my rear wheels when accelerating in top gear which must represent a coefficient of friction of not greater than .25. I believe that this is the condition that you should aim at on your test stretch of Tar Macadam. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
