X300a (2) To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}17/KW.19.9.35. Petrol Filter - SpectreCodename for Phantom III 2-S-I. In order to overcome the syphoning of petrol from the rear tank through the filter (which occurs with the filter mounted on the frame side) and to eliminate the fitting of a tap on the tank side of the filter, we are trying out a scheme in the above car whereby the filter is fitted to the rear cross member, 7.00" to the off side from the centre of the member, immediately in front of the tank. The pipe line will be run on the inside of the frame. Accessibility to the filter is by lifting the rear passengers seat board, and in the case of a close-coupled 4, through the luggage boot.
