WELL BASE RIMS AND TYRES.

C2/C13.1.26. The replies to your questions are as follows :-

(1) We were about to start a 10,000 miles test with a car which was to be fitted with well base rims. Unfortunately a failure has occurred which will delay the car starting for 10 or 13 days.

We have further sets of these wheels fitted to 20 HP. cars and also to the car which Mr. Royce is using in the south of France.

(2) Our experience with them so far has been very satisfactory.
The tyres supplied with these wheels have a new pattern tread. The object of altering the pattern of the tread was to provide a better non-skidding quality. We think the new tyre is better in this respect but it is more noisy.

(3) We certainly cannot condemn the rims or tyres. There might be certain difficulty in obtaining spares at the present time. We are convinced however that it will not be long before well-base rims will become standard.
