Belts & Pulleys 1135 Fm/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}5/GH.S.P.40. 3rd May 1940. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., Chapel-en-le-Frith. Dear Sirs, FOR ATTENTION OF MR. SHILTON. ------------------------- Many thanks for your letter of the 29th ult., and we note your remarks. You will recall that on your recent visit to these works, we discussed the possibility of Bakelite pulleys, and at the time some doubts as to heat conductivity were expressed. The writer was not aware that you had already carried out actual tests on fabric pulleys or that results were so disappointing. In view of your remarks whilst we agree that 15 HP. at 4,000 r.p.m. is a rather lighter load than previously tried, yet we feel that results will probably be just as poor. It might, however, be possible to compromise and instead of using fabric pulleys throughout, to use these on, say, the dynamo and crankshaft or dynamo and fan, the third pulley still being made in steel or cast iron. We should be very interested to hear your remarks on the possibilities of this. - continued - | ||
