Messrs. Borg & Beck Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa.

For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

Further to our tests with "No.6" material on the 10A3 clutch, we should like you to send us a set of 9 black thrust springs (160-170 lbs.) and also a set of white ones (170-180 lbs.). We want to find the minimum spring poundage necessary to take the torque and wish to fit the springs ourselves to save time. A confirmatory order follows. You will of course ensure that the springs will fit in the cups and on the pressure plate seatings.

Confirming our telephone conversation with Mr. Armitage, we have found the tensile strength of specimens cut from various parts of the sample of English Hycoe you sent us, with the following results :-

| Material | Sample | Tensile Strength (lbs/sq.in.) | Remarks |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| English made "Hycoe" | A | 2421 | Square with weave |
| | B | 3429 | do. at right angles. |
| | C | 3411 | As B. |
| | D | 1548 | Slightly on bias |
| | E | 1514 | As D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} |
| | F | 931 | At 45° to weave |
