Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

For the attention of Mr. Robotham.

Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of the 24th instant, which was received last night, and consequently we wired you that the bearings were despatched on Friday last.

We note that you now require Bushes with reduced wall thickness in order to reduce the amount of material when broaching and we will go into this question and let you have our recommendations, but it must be borne in mind that it is essential to have a reasonable amount of Babbitt left in the hole to give the necessary damping effect.

We are naturally disappointed to learn that one of the 3-Layer Bearings has failed but we feel that whatever the cause may have been it will not affect your decision in the final tests, as, although we do our best to make all bearings perfect, it will be sometime before we operate at 100% efficiency in practise.

We shall be very pleased indeed to make any investigation on this question and if you require any further assistance in the matter we shall be only too pleased to do all we can.

Yours faithfully,
VANDERVELL PRODUCTS LIMITED,
G.A. Vandervell
Director.
