RE OIL SCRAPER RINGS

Referring to your BY10/H23.3.25; the position is that we have already filed an application in Mr.Royce's name in which the "L" section ring is included. So it would appear inadvisable now to attempt to alter matters.

At the time this application was filed we were unaware that credit for the idea of the "L" section ring was due to Mr.Lovesay. Mr.Rowledge gave us instructions regarding the application in the first instance, following, we understand, a discussion between himself and Mr.Royce.

The principle feature of the application, we were told, was to be the provision of undrilled "cavity" grooves below each ring, but the chamfered and "L" section rings were to be included in the specification.

We think it is quite possible that when we complete the application the Patent Office may complain that more than one invention is covered. We might then have to separate the "L" section ring from the undrilled cavity grooves and file two complete specifications. Under such circumstances there is a possibility that we could introduce Mr.Lovesay's name in the "L" section ring specification.

We will bear the matter in mind if this occurs.
