Are we going to be responsible for any of this work or is this entirely left to R.R. U.S.A? From our previous experience when we were selling Derby built cars in U.S.A. we know that this question of making the car satisfactory to customers cost us a tremendous amount of money.

If Oy. leaves R.R. U.S.A., andfrom what I have heard since he has returned there he is determined to do so, it is difficult to know who I shall deal with out there. It would be unfortunate, for instance, if Oy. and myself agree that the car I take out is quite satisfactory if afterwards Oy. is replaced by another person with different ideas.

(4) Who pays the expenses of this visit?

(5) When does the car return? We understand a car can only stay there 90 days on a tryptique. Suppose, for instance, the car can be sold out there, would this be agreed to, if so I should want to know the price.

(6) One point I am certain to be asked is the prospect of the L.H. 25 H.P.

Whilst I am in U.S.A. I am anxious to visit several firms especially the Aircraft engine firms because, although we see most of the American cars over here, we know very little about their aircraft development.

I would like to visit :-

Packard, Detroit.
Curtiss, Buffalo.
Wright, Paterson.
Pratt & Whitney, Hartford Connecticut.
McCook Field, Daton, which is the U.S.A. Army experimental station.

I also want to make a point of going to the General Motors proving ground which is a complete experimental test track where they test all makes of cars. There are also a number of other interesting firms if I can fit them in.

I estimate to be out there about four weeks making approximately six weeks in all.
