Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} BENTLEY III. FRAME CROSS. We send herewith LeC.5770 showing the construction of the frame cross for Bentley III. The construction of this cross has been based upon the general recommendations of Messrs. Briggs Bodies and the Projectile & Engineering Co. As previously stated the method of assembly is to fix each unit of the frame cross into the side member by riveting, the final assembly being the attachment of the top and bottom plates at the cross centre. Although the method of fixing throughout has been shown to be by rivets, all of the joints will be are welded finally, and we are sending prints of our schemes to the makers asking them among other things where they would recommend we should place the welds. Between the side member of the frame cross there will be two gussets per side, and the forward-most of these we show on this scheme. The rear-most one will form part of the scheme for the front anchorage of the rear road spring. Att: LeC.5770 (2 sheets). E/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
