Re: H.C. Martineau,
B-160-DG.

Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}9/E19.7.35, I wrote to him at the time and told him that I could not understand the trouble he had experienced, because of Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}'s trip last summer.

In a letter received from him to-day, he says:

" Did your representative by any chance cross those passes in an open high ratio gear car? Otherwise I assure you I am at a loss to understand how he managed it, as again, two days ago, the same 'drying-up' occurred at about 2,600 metres, with the thermometer at 85°. Perhaps the difference in weight would explain it.

All the foreign chauffeurs here advise me to put the petrol pump as far away from the engine as possible, but surely the old-fashioned pressure system would be simpler?

Anyway I assure you I am not insisting on this point for fun. The car is much too delightful a job not to have its small difficulties overcome."

He wants to come and see me next week, and I want to write and tell him that I shall be away, but I do not know what more to say about this petrol trouble pending hearing from you.
