25 HP. Isolated Change Gear Lever.

During a recent run on 21-C-IV, it was found that, after an appreciable distance had been covered using top or 3rd gears only, it was difficult to move the gear lever to the left hand side of the gate in order to engage 2nd gear.

On several occasions it was necessary to bang the lever violently from side to side, before 2nd could be engaged.

We believe that this trouble has been foreseen by the design dept. as a possibility and is due to the ball retaining cages on the lever shaft working sideways out of their correct position while in top or 3rd gear. The trouble can be overcome by the provision of a stop to retain the ball cage while in top gear, and we consider that this should be provided.
