RR 755 REVISED (10H) (DE 649 9-12-26) BM. 2/1157. ORIGINAL COMPLETED 22.12.27 STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS. Date 14.11.27 No. 8692 Drawing No. Part List Description of Parts. Battery ignition contact breaker to Lec.2460 permitting scrubbing action between the tungsten points and new design of spring for reduced maximum stress. Origin. To improve performance and life of tungsten points by improving the running condition of working surfaces. Experimental Test Report. This particular design involved only a comparatively small modification to existing std. parts. A 10,000 miles test has been made on the bench with a result which is at least as satisfactory as any test on RR. ignition which we have so far made. These are being placed on the expl. cars and one will shortly run a 10,000 miles test in France. Road Test Report. We recommend that no more of the present contact breakers should be instructed. We ought to adopt this improvement as soon as possible. A 10,000 miles test will be completed before any cars are delivered. Weight of Old Part. Cost of Old Part. £ 10s. 6d. Weight of New Part.
