X5770 To DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 3/LG16.7.26. RE. 20 HP. CHASSIS - 1644. X5900 The following new features which have not yet been standardised are to be fitted to 1644 chassis :- (1) Cast dashboard. (2) New support for battery box using extra cross member. (3) New oil relief valve. (4) Cross steering tube fitted with spring loaded joints. (5) Modified induction pipe and exhaust pipe. (Induction pipe in aluminium to Lec.2216). (6) Engine fitted with lapped crankshaft. (7) Hydraulic shock dampers to the rear. The other parts which we hope to fit to this car for which we have not yet received instructions from WW. are :- (a) New petrol tank following the lines of the latest Phantom. (b) Modified exhaust system. Sometime ago we received part-instructions for 20 HP. with larger diameter cross members. So far we have not received the complete instructions. It would appear that this would be a good feature to try out on this car. It will be seen by the list there is nothing on this car of vital importance. If it is decided that the car shall wait for the frame with the larger dia. cross member, it would be more economical to sell 1644 as a standard chassis and build up another. We think it would be a pity to start the test unless the body is one which it was agreed would be useful to run. We do not see any reason why the car cannot be held up for 5 or 6 weeks until a correct body is made. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
