INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY, LTD. TELEPHONES: PAISLEY 4141/5. INCHINNAN SCOTLAND TELEGRAMS: INDIATYRE. RENFREW. OUR REF. PW/HDE. YOUR REF. 1336 30th April, 1937. Messrs/ Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Attention of S.H.Grylls Esq. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of 20th April, we have been going into the question of recutting a 6.50/17 tyre mould for experimental purposes as you request. We find that to make a change similar to the one which we made in the 6.00/17, we would require to make a complete new mould since we changed the contour of the tread and gave the shoulders an increased radius and also we changed the pitch of the buttons to try to improve the silence. If you think that there is a good possibility of your adopting the 6.50/17 tyre and you would like a special mould made, we are prepared to make one for you. We would be pleased to hear from you in connection with this matter. Regarding the question of pressures, 28 lbs. we think would be the right pressure for the rear tyres and 25 lbs. should be sufficient for the front tyres but we think that it might be advisable to increase this by 3 to 5 lbs. to improve the steering and cornering. However, this is a matter to be determined by test. - Continued - | ||
