R.{Sir Henry Royce} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} V5240 E2/M22.12.28. INDIA 4 - CONTROLS. X.5240 X.5280 We send you herewith blueprints of LeCs. 2627 and 2630, dealing with the starter carburetter throttle control. LeC. 2627 shews the rear end of the control shaft carried from the dash while the other drawing shews the shaft carried entirely on the engine as now. With the engine mounted on rubber there is more vertical movement to be considered relative to the dash, and from this point of view LeC.2627 is to be preferred. On the India 4. chassis which came to WW. before your departure there appeared to be a tendency for the starter carburetter to creep open. We have since seen that with the controls fitted the friction spring of the control has to be set by the coachbuilder, and the radiator shutter control shaft is carried on the starter carb. control, tending to drag it round.
