20 HP. CHASSIS.

-----------------

As we have a standardization sheet fully signed up by everybody except yourself, for introducing an improved 20 HP. petrol tank, we are somewhat in doubt as to whether we should bring this modification in at "L" Series. We have gone through the routine at the Works and established that if it is decided to adopt it, it can be brought in. Apparently it would be brought in in the ordinary way, except for the fact that you have not signed the sheet.

Does this mean that a difficulty is likely to arise in introducing this scheme, from the point of view of its increased cost. If so, it means I must at once order material for the old type tanks.

A similar position arises in connection with the proposed use of vertical shutters on the 20 HP. Sheets are fully signed up with the exception of yourself. The Works agree it can be brought in so far as time is concerned. Apparently the reason you have not got your sheet is that the Cost Dept. have not been in a position to submit the figures, but it is of the utmost importance that we should know quickly whether the improvement is to be put on "L" Series or not. If we miss "L" Series, then it will mean waiting until October when we will be ordering for another Series. This means a definite hold-up in design factors for a considerable period.
