AR/MMB/12413 (contd) -2- a duplicate of the one on the side steering rod. To get a big variation in the time taken to crack a pivot, the bumps on the track vary a bit because there are ten separate weights for each obstacle and with the car going over them they are continually altering their postions in relation to one another. During these tests we have had one bolt sheer holding the leaves of the spring together and 4 bottom leaves of the off side front spring break across the hole in the centre; they went together. This test shows that it is not necessary to have very large obstacles to crack the pivots. As soon as the crack in the pivot was .5" long we changed it. | ||
