| x46 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.21/KW. 1st May, 1935. Messrs. Thomas Firth & John Brown Ltd., Spring Dept., Tinsley, Sheffield. For the attention of Mr. Porter. Dear Sirs, We are returning to you 4 broken plates from various road springs which we have recently tested on our bumper. 3 of these plates have broken due to the attachment of the spring clip. We should like your suggestions as to how to overcome this weakness in question. We should like to test a set of 122A springs with Woodhead type clips. The life of 122A front springs is 12.30 hours, whereas 122 front springs lasted 8.15. Although this is an improvement, we feel the result could be further improved by attention to the spring clip fixing. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
