Herewith a copy of my memo to Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} regarding the above 4¼-litre chassis, the engine of which has been wrecked as the result of the failure of No.5 connecting rod.

For some reason best known to themselves, High Duty Alloys (of which Mr.Devereux is Managing Director) wished to make an examination of this engine prior to its despatch to Derby, but as its state was such that I did not think it would be policy for anyone to see it, except in the presence of our Derby officials, it was despatched before the arrival of the High Duty Alloys' representative, who arrived at K and was informed by me that the car was not at his disposal.

Pk/KC.

ENCLOSURE.
