Re Sample Exide Unpasted grids for Exide 3-RRS-IEL Battery
I have examined the sample unpasted improved grids as proposed for use in our Exide 3-RRS-IEL 6 volt unit batteries.
These are made less wide than previously (see Report JD{J. Draper - Frames}24 2-7-27) to prevent bulging of the container due to the growing of the positive plates at the latter end of the batteries life.
The dimensions of the plates are as follows.
Negatives
Active surface per plate 5.1" x 4.5"
Whole surface including feet 5.75 x 4.73
Thickness (two outer plates) .100"
" other " .130"
positives
Active surface per plate 5.1 x 4.5
Whole surface including feet - 5.68 x 4.70
Thickness .155"
(contd)
