Instructions for modifying the starter control mechanism on the American chassis to clear the rear exhaust box.

Referring to the controlling mechanism of the above, schemes of which we have sent you, would you kindly note that we shall require to displace the control rod from the pedal shaft to the lay shaft under the footboards sideways, a distance of approximately .750" further from the centre of the car for the purpose of clearing the rear exhaust box on the engine. This will require the addition of a simple lever to the aforementioned lay shaft, and the use of a simple stamped horse-shoe control lever for the sliding pinion, in place of the present construction.
