(2) I am sending you a clutch plate taken out of B-3-GP, Barclay's Bentley. This plate has been losing clearance, and has been adjusted three times during 3,911 miles. I came in again with the pedal on the board. Kingsbury say that the set up of the steel plate has lost .006" which has caused the pedal to come up to the boards. I have sent the plate up so that this could be verified as I could not verify this statement. It will be observed that the rivets are level with the fabric, but there was no evidence of excessive wear of the fabrics. I tried another Bentley this morning, the customer's complaint being excessive vibration from 60 MPH upwards. The Owner was not complimentary at all; so I said very little. Kingsbury have had one go at it; i.e. increasing the crankshaft damper load, but the owner is not at all satisfied. In my opinion it has got a crank period which is worse than usual and an unbalanced clutch. The whole car was shaken with the vibration. I agreed with Kingsbury that the Works should tackle the job, and try to satisfy this owner. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock. | ||
