LEATHERHEAD 600. Scott HAMILTON 12/1 THE CUTTING, GIVONS GROVE, LEATHERHEAD. 30th January 1937. - Rowbotham Esq., Experimental Department, Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sir, NAIROBI RUN. I did not raise the question of instruments in my letter yesterday. In order that we may get the fullest possible data on this trip, I think we should fit temporarily, below the instrument board, the following additional thermometers for measuring :- 1. Temperature at bottom of radiator * 100 2. Temperature under bonnet. 160. 3. Temperature of oil. 160. In addition, I always have a cheap "Rototherm" thermometer mounted inside the car (above the windscreen or on a door-pillar) to give the air temperature inside the car. It would be interesting to have a similar instrument - an "outdoor" model is made - fitted outside the body where it can be seen from the front seat, to give us the temperature in the Sun. These can be obtained at any chemist for 4s. 6d. retail, but they need checking for accuracy; being cheap, they may vary a great deal! | ||
