Experimental Results of varying ballast Resistance on Remy 12. Speed 900 R.P.M. Voltage 6 Primary gaps .020" Current consumption varied by varying ballast. Maximum secondary gap. .80 1 mm. 1.10 3 mm. 1.35 6 mm. 1.65 8 mm. 1.80 9 mm. 1.90 10 mm. No ballast 2.10 10 mm. Secondly, ballast was set to give (a) 1.35 amps. consumption at 8 volts. (b) 1.35 " " " 6 " Speed and primary gap as before. In case (a) maximum secondary gap for continuous sparking = 5 mm. missing on 6 mm. In case (b) maximum secondary gap for continuous sparking = 4.5 mm., and more missing on 6 mm. On increasing speed (a) 5 mm. spark begins to miss at 1300 R.P.M. consumption then 1.05 amps. (b) 4.5 mm. spark begins to miss at 1300 R.P.M. consumption then 1.00 amp. ____ | ||
