re. AMERICAN STANDARDISATION SHEETS. X4616

Please find herewith American standardisation sheets Nos. 31. to 39 inclusive, which have been dealt with by Mr. Royce as follows:-

No.31. PISTON BEDDING.

Approved.

No.32. ECCENTRIC ADJUSTMENT OF MAGNETO PINION.

Approved, with the following remark - "There is no "technical objection but I think these changes will cause "endless confusion in spares and service. I do not rec-"ommend them or that Derby should follow."

No.33. ACCELERATOR FIBRE PEDAL PAD.

Approved, with the following remark - "I should not "expect this to be of much value, and fear the fibre will "become mechanically weak."

No.34. WATER CONNECTION. (RADIATOR TO PUMP.)

Approved.

No.35. STEEL WASHERS BELOW BOLTS IN REAR AXLE CASE.

Approved, with the following remark - "The back axle "case and its covers I believe are steel. Cannot under-"stand this but on looking further into the matter I find "it must refer to the bearing housings."

No.36. CON ROD BOLT.

Not approved. Mr. Royce thinks that America should follow Derby practice in this matter, as then the connec-ting rod is stronger. Also the bolt shown on the American detail drawing is not as strong as we use, having an under-cut under the head instead of a radius.

No.37. LUBRICATION OF INTERMEDIATE CAMSHAFT BEARINGS.

Approved.

No.38. USE OF "BONE GREY" FIBRE FOR SLIPPER FLYWHEEL WASHERS.

Approved.

No.39. ALTERATIONS TO SCREW THREADS.

Not approved. Mr. Royce remarks that he cannot agree to this because the confusion would be endless.
