1487. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 23.3.38. S.U. Carburettors. Sample carbs. submitted from S.U. having die cast bodies and brass spindles have been measured for wear with the following result. H.14768 made in 7.2.36. (Morris 12 Van). Wear is a maximum parallel with the bore both in the body and the spindle. Body approx. .005 - .013 ) Spindle .003 - .013 ) C.28640 made 29/8 - 31 (Morris 10 H.P. car). Body approx. .007 - .009 ) Sindle .001 - .006 ) Examination of Bentley Su's. in repair (steel spindles and bronze bushes) reveals that wear is negligible and there is no record of ever having to renew parts for wear.
