Many thanks for your letter of the 7th April.
I am sorry I have been so long in replying to this, but by the time I obtained the information you required the holidays interrupted business.

With regard to your question re the cost of valves, the figures are as follows:-

Cost of material.................... 3.1d.
Cost of all operations to produce forging, including cutting off, rough grinding, forging and inspection............ .638d.

Total. 3.738d.

This figure is for bare labour and material charges, and includes no overheads.
