FINAL TEST:- CONDITION OF CAR AS 2ND TEST.
ALTERATIONS:- FRONT DAMPERS RESET TO 100LBS, EACH WAY.
NEW COLUMN FITTED WITH TIGHTER NUT & WORM.
FRICTION VERY LITTLE IN EXCESS OF ORIGINAL COLUMN.
(AS CHECKED ON PENDULUM LEVER)

RESULT:- NO HIGH SPEED WOBBLE. SLIGHT JOGGLE OCCASIONALLY.
DRY ROADS. STEERING A LITTLE TIGHTER THAN WITH ORIGINAL COLUMN.
SELF CENTERING 75%. DIRECTIONAL GOOD. (AS 2ND TEST)
STEERING AS NEAR PERFECT AS POSSIBLE (PASSED BY MR. NORTHEY)

91 G.Y. SALES CAR. STEERING COMPLAINT.

1ST TEST:- CONDITION OF CAR. WHEELS & TYRES:- DUNLOP 7" x 20" BALANCED AT 38LBS/SQ".
FRONT DAMPERS:- 75 & 40LBS; 70 & 60 LBS.
CROSS STEERING TUBE:- LOAD OF 15 LBS.
TRACK:- 1/4" TOE-IN.

RESULT:- NO HIGH SPEED WOBBLE. DRY ROADS.
BAD JOGGLE PERIODS ABOVE 65 M.P.H.
WORSE THAN 137.XJ. LONGER PERIODS, SAME INTENSITY.
FRONT AXLE AGAIN TOO LIVELY, INSUFFICIENT DAMPING.

2ND TEST:- CONDITION AS BEFORE.
ALTERATION:- FRONT DAMPERS RESET TO 100LBS EACH WAY.

RESULT:- NO JOGGLE PERIODS, SLIGHT JOGGLE OCCASIONALLY.
DRY ROADS. STEERING GREATLY IMPROVED AT HIGH SPEED.
DIRECTIONAL GREATLY IMPROVED.
STEERING GENERALLY SATISFACTORY. PASSED O.K.

ALL TESTS CARRIED OUT ON THE WELWYN BY-PASS ROAD; GOOD SURFACE EXCEPT FOR TWO BAD PATCHES.
