To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to By/CS. 636 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}6/JH.7.1.38. WRAITH PISTON RINGS. Will you please arrange to have drawing and LOP. altered in respect of the following items. (1) EW.1536 Compression to be made from single cast material and to be fitted in the top groove only. (2) 2nd. Compression ring to be 'L' section as Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}471 attached herewith and to be produced from single cast material. In connection with the 'L' section ring will you please make a note on the drawing stating that it is to be counterbored to form the 'L' section after finish grinding outside diameter and sides of ring (i.e.) it is to be produced from completed EW.1536 rings. We wish to change over to the single cast ring as we find that the present centrifugally cast rings to the proportions of EW.1536 are distorting badly when being fitted on the Piston.
