With reference to your note E2/G.8.1.19., there is one point you have not mentioned as regards the new car. It was arranged (see R's note R4/W.18.8.16.) that on future cars where we do not have a speedometer drive from the gear box, that we should make and supply a proper speedometer pulley. With the pulley there would be a reduction gear so that the flexible drive for the speedometer would go at quarter engine speed. We want a gear similar to the speedometer drive we fit to aero engines except of course it will have a pulley on which would be driven off the propeller shaft with a belt in the usual manner. You know from your own experience that the speedometer drives on our cars are a curse. Will you please let us know whether you think anything can be done in this matter.

Since we were with Mr Royce we have been looking over the chassis we think that if we were to carry out any sort of wiring scheme the battery must be fixed to the chassis and not bolted in any position on the running board which the Coach Builder might choose. There is nice room for the battery between the torque tube and the frame on the driver's side. There is no reason why we could not rig up a really nice box to carry the battery in that position. It would also have the advantage that it would be close by the main switch so that our wires would be shortened by that amount. Unless we have the battery fixed to the
