Please let me have a preliminary report on these types. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

Mr. Robotham,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

Further to my letter to you of the 11th. inst., in which I promised to send four sets of 6.50/16 Tyres for test, we have now completed these and have despatched them to you.

So that you may be able to distinguish one from the other I give below the serial numbers of the various types. All tyres are from altered mould, as described in our letter of 11th. July.

Standard. Serial Nos. LC.7466
LD.1978
LD.1979
LC.7404

Standard with corners rounded. Serial Nos. LC.6455.
LC.5942.
LC.6443.
LC.5906.

Low Crown Angle Tyres.+ Serial Nos. LD.2058
LD.3503
LC.5966
LC.8091

High Crown Angle Tyres. Serial Nos. LD.4742.
LD.3724.
LD.7904.
LD.1293.

I have received your letter of the 15th. inst., and thank you for the information you give us. I am interested to note that during hot weather the squealing at corners becomes much more pronounced and I shall certainly bear this fact in mind for consideration in our endeavours to eliminate the objectionable noise.

I am very anxious that our Avon tyres should be entirely satisfactory, and will certainly do everything possible to make them so.

Yours sincerely,
THE AVON INDIA RUBBER COMPANY LIMITED.
