Re: PH.III. REAR BODY BRACKET. Many thanks for LE/2/C/16.6.37, concerning the creaking which occurs at the rear body bracket of Ph.III. due to its face being inclined. We seem to recollect that we have heard of this from you some time ago as you suggest. We believe we are right in saying that the trouble has not been experienced on any of the Experimental cars. We are inquiring of the Experimental Dept. whether this is so, and what precautions may have been taken. We will write to you again in due course. When designing this bracket we endeavoured to give it a horizontal platform, but due to the peculiar configuration of the frame and the equally peculiar disposition of the bolts for the rear dumb iron, we were not able to do so.
