Probably the spring returning it to zero position is too weak, or a bearing is tight somewhere. Never mind noise of coming out. Cushion this by air, or let it fall back on spring with air piston; or rubber block. The kick back spring behind the pinion is I imagine too stiff, so that the torque (teazer) is insufficient to turn the armature directly the gears touch faces. It ought not to create sufficient friction to do so. We cannot help teeth crossing, but the teazer torque should still turn the pinion, spring pressure being light on first contact.
