To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X7340 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/LG14.5.29. LUBRICATION OF PROPELLER SHAFT BEARING TRUNNION. When Day was up here on the fracturing of the rear axle casing we shewed him the wear on the propeller shaft trunnions. He recommended an oil groove in the bearings on the lines of the attached sketch. We have since run these on various tests and find that they definitely improve the wearing quantities of the bearing. We therefore recommend that these should be fitted on all S.S. propeller shafts. Incidentally they are fitted to the car which is just completing 10,000 miles in France.
