New asbestos and graphite packing material for shock dampers, which proved superior to felt under testing.

X8520 We have found a packing composed of asbestos and graphite which is very much better than felt. We subjected this packing under the spring loaded gland to a test of double the severity of that mentioned in our report i.e. 20 minutes at 40 lbs/sq.in. pressure without obtaining any leak.
