we have to put on the present flywheel to suit the leather clutch, and will enable the gears to be changed much better by a novice.

The ideal clutch should be perfectly free when out and should have no weight.

The perfect freedom will come by the absence of oil, and the small diameter of plate clutch, especially worked dry, will have less weight and require considerably less foot pressure.

To enable us to repair the present cone clutches from time to time more easily than at present I am having experiments made with cotton and asbestos fabric in place of leather. These were in hand a long time ago and promised great satisfaction.
