We want to test a threaded pin to replace the silent-bloc bush at the front end of the rear spring. We attach a drawing of a Cadillac thread bush which appears to be very simple compared to our flanged bushes. The outside of the bush is knurled at 2 places in order to prevent the bush from moving. We have recently done some tests pressing hardened knurled shafts into round bores and find that they cut satisfactory serrations. We are told by Olley that the interference fit between the bush before knurling and the spring eye should be .007" on the diameter. We should like to test these without the expense of dirt protection by duprene washers, as the Americans do not find that dirt protection is necessary.
