1305? Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}1/MH.{M. Huckerby} 21st. December 1938. Messrs. W. & T. Avery Ltd., Soho Foundry, BIRMINGHAM. Your Ref. A/D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Attention of Mr. A.G.Adams. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter and enclosures of the 16th. inst. The instruments you describe, though excellent, are too expensive as we only require the machine for experimental, not production, testing. We notice that there are three possible ways of cheapening the apparatus:- (1) By using the Tester No.662 for 3 ton springs but without the electric motor, the hand wheel being used the whole time. (2) By using the lighter tester, if this goes up to 1 1/2 Tons, with the electric motor. (3) By using the lighter tester without electric motor. Will you please say what would be the cost of these three test machines. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
