18992 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}1/BE. 3.7.25. 11 NEW PARTS FITTED TO 7.EX Engine Unit Throttle Control Mounted on Ball Bearings. Tappets with improved Lubrication to Scheme 634. Aluminium Induction Pipe with smaller core. Aluminium Hot Spot Bend(Water Heated) with smaller core. Weight of Aluminum Induction Pipes complete - 8lbs, 14ozs " " Carburetter " -10 " 5 " TOTAL 19 " 3 " Weight of Std Cast Iron Ind:Pipes complete 23lbs. 1oz. " " " G.M. Carburetter complete 15 " " TOTAL 38 " 1oz. It will be observed that there is a saving in weight on these Units of 50% . 1. Wider Dash and louvered Bonnet. Near Side Bonnet Side Strip is laced with Ferodo which is folded over top edge on Strip. Off-side Side Strip has Horizontal Ferodo lacing. With either of these schemes of lacing it prevents any means of guide for the bonnet when closing as is a feature on our standard bonnets, consequently it is more difficult to close Bonnet. Bonnet catches are very awkwardly placed being too straight up. The shape of the Bonnet handles might be improved - they are not nice to handle. 2. Radiator with enclosed Shutters and deeper matrix. 3. R.R. design of Luggage Grid. The mounting for the Grid on to the Rear Bracket is on a taper pin which is pulled in to the Grid member and there is a heavy spring washer fitted underneath the head of the pin to take up any side play. We have found that there is a tendency when the Grid is worked up and down for this pin to unscrew and come loose so temporarily, we are fitting plain washers on each side to take up the end play with a spring washer under the head of retaining bolt. It was found necessary to set the Exhaust Snout downwards to prevent Exhaust blowing on the Grid. Weight of Grid - 14 lbs. | ||
