X4086 X4237 We attach for your information copy of report we have received from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} dated 18th. inst. re. the above car. Referring to the points raised by Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} we have replied as follows. Whilst the present "lock-out" exists, 6-Goshawk-11 should be kept running in France even when it has completed 10,000 miles. We have already 5-Goshawk-11 in pieces awaiting new parts before it can be built up. We have also sent on to Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} the instruction from CJ. that the cars should be tried in the hilly districts. As regards the fan belts. The belt used on the Goshawk is the same belt as we used on the 40/50 cars. We agree that the average experience with the belts on the Goshawk, so far, have given considerably more trouble than they have on the 40/50 cars. We think this might possibly be due to the increased belt speed on the Goshawk. We can confirm this on the rig. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
