Test report on the performance of a Downdraught Stromberg Carburetter with a central heated small capacity manifold.

Downdraught Stromberg Carburetter with Central Heated Small Capacity Manifold. This manifold was found to be worse than the large capacity floor heated one at low speeds. Distribution is very poor between 5 and 15 m.p.h. full throttle on a fairly steep gradient in top gear. The slow running is uneven and lumpy. The fault of wet spirit entering the ports before being vaporised is still apparent on this manifold, as in the case of the twin Solex one. This manifold was erected with extensions to the ports in order to maintain the carburetter vertical, as it was designed for use on the inclined test bed unit.
