X354 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}15/KW.12.2.36. Phantom III. In fitting the dirt covers on the tappet plunger casings, the hole in the plunger through which the plunger valve is released is half obscured when in the running position, and entirely so when the plunger is fully depressed. This renders is difficult to make adjustment of the clearance and also to operate the valve when running and releasing the air after building up dry. By reversing the covers so that the collar comes on the underside it is just possible to operate the plunger valves to the depressed position. The operation of the plunger valve is carried out by a piece of bent wire approx. .050" dia., through the hole in which the tip of the plunger valve stem protrudes. With regard to the metering screw layout to LeC.4900, whereby there are .062" jet holes in the double plunger casings, the screws are otherwise the same. Will you please instruct that the plunger casings and the screws are marked to match. * and .031" dia. holes in the single plunger casings. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/L.H.Swindall. | ||
