S.S. PUSH BUTTON SWITCH.

The new two-way press button switch has given trouble in one or two instances and cannot be considered satisfactory without modification. We have one of these switches (new as made) ready to send to you immediately on your return to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town.

For the time being we have recommended to HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} the adoption of the earlier two-way press button switch which has given entirely satisfactory results. one has run 20000 miles and another over 30,000 miles. We have endeavoured by variations in the main bow spring to render the switch satisfactory, but we are forced to the conclusion that the space available does not permit of a suitable spring.

As also reported by the testers in France, the switch is too 'stiff', by which they mean that the spring is of such a high rate that effective contact cannot suitably be maintained with the thumb and the contacts suffer accordingly; the initial pressure keeping the contacts apart is not unduly high.
