-2- far forward, instrument board too near the screen. The doors are excessively thick and heavy, they very soon rattled badly. The windows in the front doors were very unsatisfactory from a rattling point of view. Our experience is that the framed windows, being very much heavier, always develop rattles (in their guides) much more quickly than unframed windows running in velvet guides. The patent driver's window is a terrible rattle trap, if it is made so that it does not rattle it will not work. It is a very useful appliance, but a continual source of rattles. Body Lights. The ivorine moulding round the roof lights broke and the glasses fell into the rear compartment and were broken. DRAUGHTS This car was notoriously draughty in the front seats (it was generally known as "The pneumonia bus"), there were gaps almost ¼" wide between the front door pillars and the door. No attempt at making it reasonably draught proof had been attempted, we had to fit draught rubber to each front door. The body itself developed no structural defects, its chief faults can be summarised :- doors too heavy, rattles from windows, draughts, insufficient room in front seats. CLOSED FRONT LANDAULET ON PHANTOM 11 CHASSIS 22-EX. This body has given very little trouble. The following are the only complaints:- Near side drivers window rattles badly (usual complaint.) The remaining windows are frameless and run in velvet lined guides. The disappearing partition window is insufficiently guided and rattles badly when fully open. The instrument board is insufficiently supported. | ||
