361 W/N. To Br/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} c. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/JT. c. D/BP. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.6/MH.{M. Huckerby}17.12.38. OIL COOLER - CHASSIS NO. 3.AZ.144. Referring to Br/G.2/M.14.12.38, we have examined the oil cooler referred to - the defect is due to the fact that too much of the top plate has been machined away in refacing the union surfaces after reconditioning the cooler. This defect was discovered soon after the 'F' coolers were commenced and steps were taken to prevent recurrence. Actually the above cooler could not have given trouble if it had been left in situ in its cooler casing. We are handing the oil cooler to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/JT. for return to makers, but suggest that the repair of same is suspended temporarily as we believe By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is about to instruct the removal of oil coolers from all chassis. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
