1135 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}8/MH.{M. Huckerby} 3rd. April, 1939. Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., Chapel-en-le-Frith, STOCKPORT. For the attention of J.N.Longley, Esq. Dear Sirs, We have examined the 20" fan which failed on your rig after 10 hours 8 mins. and find that the material of the blades was aluminium instead of dural as intended. We are sorry that this mistake should have been made and are sending to you to-day two further 20" fans which definitely have dural blades. We hope that these will keep your rig running for some time. The writer regrets that he will be unable to visit you before Easter owing to pressure of other work, but will write to you again after the holidays. We wish to thank you for testing the short bladed fan for us. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
