C O P Y. To Na.{Mr Nadin})from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}} Copy to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R3/IB19515. May 19th. 1915. Re K.E. 805 Steel. I think we should have nothing to do with K.E.805 steel at the high Brinell hardness, but since this material is the same as the Woodhead's spring steel, I see no reason why it should not be manufactured in fair quantities and give uniform results, that is, providing we continue to use it in the road springs and get reliable results, we ought to do the same in other parts. It is quite evident that the Brinell hardness of the road springs is probably what we should have to adopt all round. I should not expect to find this much above 300. Kindly let me know. F.H.R. | ||
