RR 238 (150 BKS.) (SH57.29-6-20.) MP 224358 ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. X8783 ds To: EFC Order No.: P.C. 110 Customer's No.: X 8783 X 8660 Faulty Customer's Dynamo U N L 5 X. When received, the insulation of this machine was tested on the A.C. mains. For a few seconds it was OK, but eventually broke down at the positive terminal. It could also be seen that solder had been melted and thrown from the commutator end connections. The armature and end brackets were then removed. The inside of the carcase, and the field windings, near the terminals, and the inside of the front end bracket were thickly covered with carbon dust. Applying the test mains to the positive terminal and the carcase, a track was located across the carbon dust. The insulation at this point was found to be charred and will need replacing.
