Huckerby}7.11.33 re BENTLEY BRAKES INEFFECTIVE ------------------- B-29-AE - JACK BARCLAY With reference to the point I raised with you a short time ago, to the effect that the brakes were ineffective after washing, we have now received from Jack Barclay the following complaint :- "I thought you would like to hear that when my Bentley car is delivered to me each morning the braking is 70% efficient. I understand from my chauffeur that after the car has been washed the front wheel brakes operate to a certain extent, but the rear wheel brakes hardly at all. He brings the car from Cheval Place to my house, which is about a mile, and this morning, when I got in the car, as the road was dry, I was travelling about 35 m.p.h., and upon applying the brakes at first they did not take up at all and then swerved hard to the right. In other words, the right brake drum was locked and not the other. By the time I arrived at Hanover Square the brakes were perfectly normal and 100%. What do you think is the cause of this trouble? I have never experienced it with any other car of your manufacture." We should like to reply to this complaint and should be glad to receive any information from you which will enable us to do this.
